#105 Coming Soon...Not + 2024 in Review

Happy Blog Day Everyone!

I can't believe it's been two years since I restarted the blog (not accurate to the day as I try to keep the blog schedule consistent!). There's been a lot that’s happened during this time, new Brennan and Riz stories, losing them off Amazon, Daemon Soul finally being picked up to name but a few.

Thank you to everyone who's read this blog so far. It means a lot to me.

Will I make a third year anniversary? Suppose only time will tell!

Now over to Brennan and Riz to see what they're getting up to on this auspicious occasion.

The Comic Tales of Brennan and Riz

No, don't worry, I have no plans to give the little egomaniac his own spin-off (if one were to exist, it'd belong to Valarie clearly). The idea tickled me though, and that's why I ran with it. Plus, I don't think that kind of genre, with Riz of all people, would really do that well, you know?

2024 in Review

2024 is well and truly over...but how well did I do with my writing this past year?

It's a tricky question to be sure.

In terms of published works, I had one story published as part of Malarkey's Imaginomnibus Ominous Orbs (did try for Harvey Duckman but that fell through). So baring that in mind, it can look like I've done next to nothing, at least as far as results are confirmed.

What about the blog stories I hear you cry? I figured they might be cheating since technically I published them all here. There's also a *lot* of them! Please note I'm only counting brand new stories for this, as they were wrote last year.

There was...

(*Deep breath*)

The Cockpit

Valentines Date

The Contract

The Lights on the Green

First Mission

Abyssal Gaze

A Demon Amongst Spiritualists

Confessions in the Dark

Eve

A Bad Dream

A Day in the Life

Fractured Shadows

The Blue Scarf of Whitby

A Moon's Vigil

Brennan in the Game

The Woods: Part 1

The Woods: Part 2

Dead Things and Little Girls: Part 1

Dead Things and Little Girls: Part 2

A Riz Christmas Carol: Part 1

A Riz Christmas Carol: Part 2

Phew!

21 entries there split over 18 unique stories! Not too shabby, though that did take writing time from other projects that could have really used it...like the Brennan and Riz Redcar story, I haven't forgotten it, it's just deep in writing limbo.

For sake of completion, here's the Short Diversions entries that were 'reprints' of a sort:

Lives in the Storm

A Cold Voice

Orphan's War Chapter 1

Orphan's War Chapter 2

Orphan's War Chapter 3

Orphan's War Chapter 4

Orphan's War Chapter 5

Orphan's War Chapter 6

Now...What about the stuff that no one saw (or at least, hasn't seen yet?)

I've been working on a lot of different WIPs. There was the aforementioned Brennan and Riz short story that I've been trying to get my head round, I restarted Avalon Tales, wanting to get it closer to the vision in my head. I've been doing edits to Daemon Soul Awakening when called for and of course, these past couple of months, I've been working on Daemon Soul Avalon. Focusing on that one for a moment, I've set myself the goal of trying to get the draft finished by end of February (got about 38k to do? Should be possible if I can do at least 25k a month) and then end of May to do everything I need to get it ship shape. Will I achieve it? Who knows, but I'm going to give it my best shot!

I do think that I've fallen into a rut of not finishing things...No more is this evident then the fact that the Brennan and Riz books have not returned online...despite me having everything I need. Trying to find time to do what I needed just proved impossible. This is something else I need to take care of ASAP but I need to speak with the ex publisher as one of the books is still available on Amazon via a third party seller, so I'm not sure what will happen there.

So, already I've got a lot to do and the year has only just begun, what will happen with the rest of the year? Who knows but I'll do my best to see it through.

Actually, I know two things:

1) Riz-mas will be more of a thing next Christmas season. Should be fun.

2) I've got a Novella I'd really like to get out for Christmas time as well, but I'll have to talk to the publisher about that!

Anyway, that was the state of things in 2024.

I hope you all have a brilliant 2025!

Till next time...

Keep on writing!
